Do violent video games contribute to violent behavior patterns in children and adolescents?
July 6th, 2010 | by games |djw818 asked:
I myself play many video games at my house. I’m a 16 year old male who isn’t really that aggressive most of the time. In my personal experience, I don’t think that video games put me in an aggressive state at all. I enjoy playing violent video games and I find them to calm me down when I’m agitated. I’m actually doing my graduation project on this topic. My essential question is this: Do violent video games contribute to violent behavior patterns in children and adolescents? Any and all comments on this and help would be much appreciated.

well, not necessarily. The shooters at Columbine High-school in 1999 played violent games, but I don’t think that was the key factor in the shooting. They were mentally disturbed, and the games probably “calmed them down” too.
So they can contribute, but it really depends on the person.

Honestly man, I play a lot of killing games, violence and whatnot. It depends, to be honest, and no none of your research, or surveys can help because it differentiates in kids and people.
For me, if I’m playing something like Halo, which I do a lot, and someone is really annoying for using some cheap weapon or sometihng it does make me angry. But this is only for a short while. Honestly, if it makes you an angry, violent person, you need to check your mental stability.
I also find that playing games calms me down, and helps me think. *Shrug* It depends on who you are.
